As an Improvement Coach for the IExD & CARPE teams, Garett brings to the team experiences as a school social worker, post-secondary counselor, community organizer, grantmaker, and executive leader. Working directly with youth, parents, and community leaders at the grassroots, local, national and international level has helped inform her approach to education equity. She has been proud to contribute to the work and mission at the “I Have a Dream” Foundation of Boulder County, Foundations of Whole Foods Market, Austin Independent School District, Givella, Hub Oaxaca, Escuela Los Algarrobos, and National Communications Association, amongst others.

Garett is committed to interrogating systems only to improve and remove gaps in access, belonging, and opportunity. She remains curious about what needs to be learned and unlearned and acts on her belief that everyone is worthy of care, connection, and choice. Garett earned a degree in Journalism from Utah State University and a cross-discipline graduate degree from the University of Texas at Austin. There, she garnered her LMSW and certificate in Philanthropy, Nonprofit & Community Leadership.
